Oak & Gorski, Mike Annuzzi will join the lineup for the 2012 Song and Wine Fest

Oak & Gorski
In an indie music world always craving something with a new edge, Oak & Gorski bring exactly what is needed to the table. With Cello as a lead instrument they have
created their own unique brand of “Cello Rock” that can be heard in full force on their recently released single, “Sounds Like Love”. After raising $13,368 in 30 days on Kickstarter.com, having 4
albums under their belt and various major placements on TV and film, there is no doubt that 2012
is the year of the cello.
Ken Oak, vocals and cello, and Ed Gorski, vocals and guitar, have been making music together since 2005. After the two were introduced through a mutual friend, at the El
Rey Theatre in Los Angeles, they were quick to start. It was a mere two months later, on Halloween, Oak dressed as Waldo and Gorski as Gunnar Nelson, that they were playing their first acoustic show
together. As six years have passed, the group has self booked twelve national and international tours, sold over 30,000 albums and secured numerous TV and film placements such as Dreamwork’s “She’s
The Man”, Lifetime’s “A Nanny’s Secret” and CSI: NY.
Described by Billboard Magazine as “soulful” and “calming”, Oak & Gorski’s harmonies and songwriting will take you into the soothing world they have created for you.
With inspiration from Ryan Adams, Depeche Mode and the Indigo Girls, you can feel their diverse musical backgrounds come together, creating something completely incomparable. Having shared the stage
with notable artists including Sara Bareilles, Mumford & Sons and Far East Movement, it is obvious that Oak & Gorski have the catchy pop/rock acoustics mixed with the quick strokes of a bow
and the soft lyrical vocals that will bring them to the top in 2012.

SONG AND WINE FEST IS PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE!
Maia Sharp to Headline our 2nd annual Song and Wine Fest
Produced by Grammy award winning studio legend Don Was, Maia Sharp’s latest album, Echo heralds her ascension into the spotlight after being embraced by Bonnie Raitt, Carole King, the Dixie Chicks, Art Garfunkel, Keb’ Mo’, Cher, Trisha Yearwood, Edwin McCain, Lisa Loeb, David Wilcox and many others who have recorded her songs and treasured her talent. From this point, the secret is out and Sharp stands on her own – a uniquely gifted singer, writer and multi-instrumentalist, whose peers are the most discerning artists in the business but whose music on Echo reaches out toward the wider world.
Sharp started early on the journey that led ultimately to Echo. She had barely hit her teens when she started performing on piano, guitar and saxophone. Following the example of her father, Randy Sharp, a highly respected songwriter/producer/musician, she played in local Los Angeles clubs and kept her ears open not only to contemporary folk and rock but also to jazz and classical elements. She won significant critical notice and radio airplay with her albums, Hardly Glamour (Ark 21), 2002’s self titled Maia Sharp (Concord) 2005’s Fine Upstanding Citizen (KOCH) and in that same year Sharp was one third of the exquisite collaboration with Art Garfunkel and Buddy Mondlock on Everything Waits to Be Noticed (EMI/Manhattan) produced by Billy Mann.
Maia is just as comfortable writing for others and it shows. She has had her songs recorded by The Dixie Chicks (“A Home” from Home), Bonnie Raitt (“I Don't Want Anything To Change,” “Crooked Crown” and “The Bed I Made” from Souls Alike), Trisha Yearwood (“Standing Out In A Crowd” from Jasper County), David Wilcox (“Ask For More” from Into The Mystery), and many others including Cher, Lisa Loeb, Edwin McCain, Keb' Mo', Art Garfunkel, Mindy Smith, Paul Carrack, Amanda Marshall, Kim Richey and Kathy Mattea.
The albums, writing and collaborations have led to years of performing on stage, radio and Television. Maia has been all over the US and UK headlining clubs and theaters, opening for (and often sitting in with) Bonnie Raitt, Art Garfunkel, Jonatha Brooke, Patty Griffin, David Wilcox, Pat Benatar, Edwin McCain, Shawn Colvin, Keb' Mo' and more and appearing on Mountain Stage, Acoustic Cafe, XM, Sirius, NPR's All Things Considered, CBS Early Morning, the Today Show and many other noteworthy forums.
As every step is a stepping stone, Echo is a reflection of experience and a thorough representation of who Maia Sharp is today. “These songs were written over a period of three years,” she sums up. “I wrote other songs during that same time, but these felt especially right for me now and they seemed to get along with each other. There’s a common thread of flaw and imperfection...recognition and then celebration. Perfection is highly overrated and, I’m betting, pretty boring.”
Between touring and writing, Maia has been producing other artists including platinum selling singer songwriter, Edwin McCain and Canadian Idol finalist Donny Anderson.
First Annual Song and Wine Fest 2011 -- SUCCESS!!
Despite the first rain on June 4 in 13 years, we have officially deemed the 2011 First Annual Song and Wine Fest a rousing success.
We had a great lineup of Singer/ Songwriters, five Wineries pouring their very best wines, and our headliner, Terry Furlong rocked the house with his music and his stories.
We have a lot of people to thank starting with the V6 Ranch and the Varian Family for working so closely with us to make sure the venue would work for us. We made a decision on Friday morning to move the event into the Parkfield Cafe. It was a wise decision as it rained all day Saturday. The Varian's accomodated our needs and turned the cafe over to us for the whole day. Thank you very much John and Barbara!
Thank you Steve Key for arranging our outstanding lineup of local Singer/ Songwriters. Kate Kilbane and her Band, Gary Garrett, Jody Mulgrew and his surprise guest Erin Inglish, Young Ireland, Steve McFessell, Amy Obenski, Chi McClean, and our own Steve Bernal. This diverse and talented group of artists gave our first event the launch we needed.
Special thanks to our Winery Sponsors who poured for our event. Kiamie, Maloy O'Neill, Sculpterra, Wild Eye, and Aimee June. They all get request after request to do these events and we feel especially grateful that they lent their support to our venture. Our Corporate sponsors were also an integral part of our success. Thanks again to Merrill & Associates Real Estate, Holiday Inn Express - Paso Robles,
Taco Bravo - King City, All Temp Refrigeration - King City, and Delicato Family Vineyards.
Thank you to our radio partners, 92.5 The Krush, and 102 KRKC. We appreciate their on air support.
Take a look at the pictures by clicking on the tab 2011 Event Pictures.
We hope to see you next year on June 2, 2012. Keep checking our web site for updated information.
While sitting at coffee one morning, Steve Bernal and Mike Luther were talking about music and the great local wineries found in the Paso Robles area. Steve is a local songwriter who performs regularly at Songwriters At Play nights hosted by Steve Key in the San Luis Obispo area. Mike has an appreciation for music and the fine local wines produced on the Central Coast of California. This talk lead to the idea of putting the two together and the beginnings of the "First Annual Song and Wine Fest" were started.
Steve has performed regularly for trail ride groups at the V6 Ranch owned and operated by the Varian Family. He has always wanted to organize a songwriters event in the beautiful setting of Parkfield California. The trip to Parkfield is a beautiful drive and well worth it when you reach this destination.
The combination of a great venue, the V6 Ranch Parkfield Inn, along with the talented performers, and the local wineries pouring their best selections, will prove to be a fantastic afternoon of fun and entertainment.
We look forward to seeing you there.
Please contact Steve or Mike with ticket requests or Sponsorship opportunities.
Wine and Music?
Wine and music go hand in hand. The more I play music at wineries and get to know the wine makers, the more I realize how much we have in common.
As a great winemaker learns from the fine wine makers before him, he takes this knowledge and moves forward to
improve and create his signature wine. Some blend grapes together to come up with something a little different. They try to find that perfect blend that will appeal to not only the wine connoisseur,
but also the person who just appreciates a good glass of wine.
A great songwriter learns from the great songwriters before him. He writes hundreds of songs until he writes that
one that just catches your ear. He tries to find the perfect melody that compliments those catchy lyrics. The song that puts a tear in your eye, a smile on your face or transcends you to another
place.
Just as each vintage is just a little bit different, each song is sung just a little bit different each time, but it
is still the same label or the same song.
Wine is an acquired taste. Music is also an acquired taste. Some enjoy merlot and jazz while others enjoy chardonnay and classical. One person prefers cabernet over zinfandel while another person prefers country over opera. Once a great song flows through your ears, you know it's a hit. Once a fine wine caresses your palette, you know it's a great wine.
I hope you will join us June 4rth at the first annual Song And Wine
Fest. There will be 8 songwriters presenting their creations in the form of song. There will be up to 10 wineries presenting their creations in the form of wine. Who knows, you might discover a new
appreciation, whether it's for a newly discovered wine, or a newly discovered songwriter, or both.
